Adobe Premiere Launches on the iPhone

Adobe’s video editing software is now available on mobile devices—at least on the iPhone. After announcing its release earlier this month, users can now download the Adobe Premiere app from the App Store. The free-to-use software helps the company remain competitive among the growing number of creators and filmmakers. Adobe says an Android version is in development.

“We’re excited to bring the power of Premiere to creators’ fingertips, delivering pro-level creative control, without the pro-level complexity,” Adobe’s Vice President of Product Marketing for Creators, Mike Polner, remarks in a statement. “Premiere on iPhone makes it easy for creators to craft and share stories on mobile with studio-quality audio, precise editing tools, and stunning visuals, to turn everyday content into polished stories anytime, anywhere.”

This isn’t the first Adobe Premiere app to land on iOS. In 2019, the company launched Premiere Rush as a lightweight video editing solution on both desktop and mobile platforms. However, with Adobe Premiere launching today, Premiere Rush is being discontinued. Those who have it already installed before September 30, 2025, can continue to use it until it’s officially terminated a year later.

Premiere on iPhone, as it’s also known colloquially, is described as a powerful app that empowers creators to make pro-quality videos on the go. It features all the editing tools creators need to execute their creative vision from start to finish. This includes “lightning-fast” multi-track timelines, 4K HDR editing, frame-accurate editing, smooth speed and motion effects, bold, animated captions, and instant background removal.

Creators can tap into the new Premiere app’s AI tools to generate custom sound effects or enhance voiceovers for sharper audio. Like Adobe’s other apps, it also lets them produce commercially safe assets, from stickers to background expansions, using either text prompts or reference images. If they so choose, creators can tap into Adobe’s extensive library of free creative assets, including stickers, images, Adobe fonts, and royalty-free music tracks.

Lastly, the app includes a one-tap export feature, making it easy to distribute videos to any social media platform. Not only can files be posted to TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram with a single action, but they can also be easily resized for every platform.

This launch simplifies life for Premiere users. Instead of juggling between Premiere Rush—with its basic tooling for vloggers—or waiting to get on a computer to access the full-featured Premiere app, they now have everything in one place on their mobile device. Now they can post higher-quality content much faster from anywhere.

Much has changed since Premiere Rush was released. More competitors have entered the space, providing a different solution to help creators quickly edit their videos. Adobe’s heft helps clear the room a bit, but creators have expressed fondness towards the likes of CapCut, Meta’s Instagram Edits, KineMaster, LumaFusion, and Apple’s iMovie. That said, Adobe’s advantage may not only be its brand and Premiere’s capabilities, but that Adobe is also packaging its Firefly AI features, something most video editing companies aren’t offering.

“For creators like myself who shoot the majority of our work on phones, having an editing app that’s actually built for mobile workflows is such a game changer,” YouTuber, entrepreneur, and designer, Mai Pham, proclaims in a statement. “The large timeline view really makes it feel powerful, but still intuitive on a phone. It’s not just a desktop tool squeezed into mobile, it’s designed differently, and I can’t wait to see how it grows and evolves.”

Although Premiere on iPhone is free for all users, an additional charge applies if extra storage or generative AI credits are required.
