Barely a week has passed since its last acquisition, and Salesforce is already adding another startup to its roster. This time, the enterprise tech firm is picking up the team behind Moonhub, an AI-powered recruiting platform. But the deal appears modest as only some of the startup’s employees are reportedly joining Salesforce, and Moonhub itself will be shutting down. Retained staffers will be tasked with enhancing—what else?—Salesforce’s Agentforce platform.
TechCrunch first reported the news.
Founded by former Meta engineer Nancy Xu in 2022, Moonhub specializes in developing AI agents for the future of work. “My goal is to build a good AI whose purpose is to give people opportunity and agency … while powering humanity’s most important initiatives with the right talent,” she told TIME in 2023. The platform leveraged AI and natural language processing to help companies identify top employee candidates who might be overlooked through traditional search methods. It has raised more than $15 million in venture funding from firms Khosla Ventures, GV, and Salesforce, as well as individual investors Marc Benioff, Mike Volpi, and others.
In a blog post announcing the deal, Xu noted that Salesforce and Moonhub shared “deep core values like customer trust, along with a resolute conviction in the role AI agents will play in unlocking an era of global innovation and opportunity.” It’s likely that the Moonhub team members joining Salesforce will contribute to building Agentforce capabilities tailored for HR teams. Just last month, Salesforce introduced an HR-focused version of its agentic development platform.
Moonhub is the latest in a string of AI-focused companies snapped up by Salesforce. The CRM giant has also pursued acquisitions, such as Informatica and Convergence.ai, in recent months. With the pace of AI innovation showing no signs of slowing, Marc Benioff appears eager to keep Salesforce ahead of the competition, which could mean that this acquisition spree might not be over yet.
