A lot of people have been asking me lately what do I do and I’ve tried my best to give them an accurate representation of just who I am and what I’m looking for. Something that Forrester Research analyst Jeremiah Owyang asked me during a conversation we had at a Twitter conference in San Francisco was “Tell me what you do in two words.” – okay, well he probably asked me to describe what I do in one word, but it’s still a pretty powerful remark. What do I do?
So how did I answer Jeremiah’s question? With two words: web marketer. That’s what I am – or at least fundamentally what I am. In simple terms, I’m a web evangelist who is interested in promoting a product to consumers or businesses, hence the “marketer” addition. I am really interested and passionate about emerging technologies that are coming out of Silicon Valley and other parts of the country and the world and their applicability in marketing campaigns.Â
My range of experience has spanned the gambit of working both in an agency setting & in-house and I’ve worked on projects including web design, email marketing, online advertising and social media. Just who were some of my clients?
- Destination DC
- Oahu Visitors Bureau
- Japan Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transport
- PG&E
- University of Hawaii School of Nursing
- Hawaii Tobacco Quitline
- Homewood Suites
- Army Hawaii Family Housing
- Enterprise Honolulu
- and many others.
I could go on about my credentials and qualifications but that’s not the purpose of this post – you could always look at my resume on LinkedIn. Why I’m writing this is so I can elaborate on the type of work that I’m looking for.
My sincere passion is dealing with web-related issues. Whether it’s coming up with strategic uses for social meda, tactical execution of web development projects, or adhering to best practices for creation of specific programs, I’m up for that. I’d like to have a forward facing role where I was able to interact with clients and/or team members to help make sure that I had some contribution to the effort. I am not opposed to working at a startup, agency, or any other private company – regardless of the size. Challenge me and I’ll prove my dedication, loyalty, and passion.
So what do I bring to the table?
- Account management
- Project management
- Content strategy
- Experience in web design & development
- Social media marketingÂ
- Email marketing
- Online advertising
