Announced today, one of the former “greats” of the Internet browser world fade off quietly into the sunset. Well not really “quietly”, but rather being put out of its misery. AOL (or more politically correct, AOL Time Warner), sole caretaker of the aged browser, decided to pull the life support and make way for its better family member, Firefox. Not surprising though as no one really cared about Netscape and are any webpages being designed to cater to the user of the browser? I don’t think so. Most browsers that are being targeted are Opera, Safari, Internet Explorer, and Firefox. So long Netscape. It’s about time and I’m sure you’ve had a great run in your hey-day, but the merge resulted in your demise and now we’re free to move on with our lives.
