Google’s innovative minds at work…

Just heard over the television about Google’s latest innovation in helping make the Internet more useful for the common man — apparently they have a new system designed to allow businesses to make printable coupons. Working in conjunction with Google Maps, this new feature will allow businesses to reach out and add this to their whole CRM mechanism. A pretty nifty thing for consumers, but requires a small bit of work when it comes to businesses. Big businesses may not find a need for this, but for small business retail companies, this may be advantageous. Here’s how easy it “supposedly” is:

  • Let Google users print your coupons and bring them to your business. Coupons will appear alongside your business listing on Google Maps.
  • A new way to attract customers. Adding coupons to your listing in Google Maps will bring new customers to your business. The better savings you offer, the more customers you’ll gain.
  • It’s free and it only takes a few minutes. Just enter a few lines of text for your coupon, set an expiration date, and tell us which of your locations accept the coupon. Users will start seeing your coupons within a few hours.

It seems that Google’s methodolgy is not to entice big businesses, but sees a great marketing opportunity with smaller businesses who may not have the enormous marketing budgets of larger companies.
