CATCHING UP: You can try and take the Internet out of P2P, but you can’t take P2P out of the Internet

Continuing on this wonderful, but probably brief series…I found another article on MarketingVOX about P2P networks and how their traffic is on the rise and surpassing anything we’ve seen on the Internet today. What is P2P? Well P2P is peer-to-peer…you know…Napster (before it was shut down and turned legit, but technically is still P2P), iTunes, BitTorrent, LimeWire, WinMX, IRC, etc.

The rumors in June 2007 was that a study was done and appeared to say that regular web traffic had overtaken P2P for the first time “in four years” and this apparently shocked people. Well I doubt that it’s that believable since Slyck News contradicts this finding (done by Ellacoya) and says that P2P traffic is rising to new heights! How much traffic is P2P hogging? Well let’s say about between 60-80%. Is that enough to tell your co-worker in the next cube to stop downloading his favorite movie so you can actually just surf the web and to check your e-mail?
