Salesforce has been buying AI companies for more than a decade, starting with RelateIQ in 2014. Early deals helped build Einstein, the AI layer Salesforce launched in 2016, and the latest wave is aimed at Agentforce, the company’s AI agent product. This tracker covers each verified deal, along with AI-adjacent purchases, acquihires, and how much Salesforce agreed to pay each month. Every fact links to a source, and unconfirmed details are flagged instead of guessed.

Chart: Ken Yeung/The AI Economy Prices are what Salesforce agreed to pay when each deal was announced: the official figure where one exists, otherwise the reported figure. For a reported range, the bar uses the low end, and so do the totals at the top of this section. Those totals are announced deal values, not a record of cash Salesforce has paid. Each price’s source is cited in the deal lists below.

Method and Caveats

Dates are announcement dates, not closing dates. “Official” prices are figures Salesforce published or reported in SEC filings; SEC figures are acquisition-date fair values, which often differ from headline numbers reported at signing. Smaller deals from 2016 appear to have been rolled into an unnamed “other business combinations” line in Salesforce’s filings, so their individual prices can’t be confirmed. Wikipedia’s list of Salesforce acquisitions couldn’t be opened during research; the list was cross-checked against Salesforce’s own acquisitions timeline and mergers-and-acquisitions newsroom archive instead. A deal missing here may be one that was never publicly framed as AI, or one this research didn’t surface.
